“A Comforting Circle”
It was during a routine procedure that Linda Severn discovered she had polycystic kidney disease, a genetic condition that would lead to dialysis and, eventually, the need for a kidney transplant. In November 1993, the disease took over her kidney function. She went from a semi-normal life to one that required complicated dialysis, three times a day for 45- to 60-minute sessions, while also managing a full-time job.

“A Journey of Life, Death…and Life Renewed”
Imagine the family’s shock and pain when, at 12:42 a.m. on January 30, 1997, a phone call interrupted their sleep and shattered their lives. Jamie Knight had been shot during an attempted robbery while closing his restaurant shift. “He had called me a couple hours earlier,” shares Jeannie. “And, the last thing he ever told me was, ‘I love you, Mom.’”

“My New Lungs”
During the past 16 years of struggling to breathe, my wife Betty and our children were my life! It was difficult for them: growing up with a dad who had trouble getting to their school functions; no perfume; no body powder; and no visits from friends if they were sick, or even had a sniffle. My wife had to do many of the tasks I had done, from yard work to vehicle maintenance.
